🌿 ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಬೆಳಕು                            ಒಂದು ಸಣ್ಣ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಹೆಸರು ಸೂರ್ಯಪುರ. ಆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನವರು ಕೃಷಿಯನ್ನೇ ನಂಬಿಕೊಂಡು ಬದುಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಮನೆಗಳು, ಹಸಿರು ಹೊಲಗಳು, ಬೆಳಗಿನ ಜಾವ ಎಮ್ಮೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಹೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಡುವ ರೈತರು — ಇವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯ ಜೀವನದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ರಘು ಎಂಬ ಯುವಕನಿದ್ದ. ರಘು ಬಡ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರೂ, ಅವನ ಕನಸುಗಳು ದೊಡ್ಡದಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ದಿನಗೂಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಮಿಕ, ತಾಯಿ ಮನೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಕುಟುಂಬವನ್ನು ಸಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹಣದ ಕೊರತೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ರಘುವಿನ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಆಶೆ ಸದಾ ಬೆಳಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು — “ನಾನು ಒಮ್ಮೆ ನನ್ನ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕಾಗಬೇಕು.” ರಘು ಓದಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತುಂಬಾ ಚುರುಕಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಆದರೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಲು ಹಣ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ದಿನವಿಡೀ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಳೆಯ ದೀಪದ ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಹಸಿವಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಓದಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಾಗ, ಕೆಲವರು ಅವನನ್ನು ನಗೆಯಾಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. “ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಇದರಿಂದ ಏನು ಆಗುತ್ತೆ?” ಎಂದು ಕೆಲವರು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ರಘು ಮಾತ್ರ ಮೌನವಾಗಿ ನಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಅವನಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿತ್ತು — ಕಾಲವೇ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡುತ್ತದ...

ABOUT PILIKULA BIOLOGICAL PARK Pilikula Nisarga Dhama is a major Eco-Education and Tourism Development Project promoted by the district Administration of Dakshina Kanada in the beautiful city of Mangalore in Karnataka State, India. Pilikula is an integrated theme park with wide variety of features; it has many attractions of cultural and scientific interest.
